The love chapter (I Corinthians 13) describes a way of life, it describes an attitude of love that should dictate our life’s attitude in general.  The greatest gift, the greatest attribute, the greatest attitude that will endure for all eternity is the attitude of love.  Paul says three things are important, faith, hope and love.  But by far the greatest of all is love.

Read I Corinthian13.  And if you have one, read it in the New Living Translation.  A friend recently gave me a copy and I love the way it reads.

Without love all of our efforts to do good gain us absolutely nothing.  To use Paul’s line of thought, all of the knowledge we could speak, without love, only makes noise.  If my faith was such that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I’m nothing.  If I gave away everything I have to the poor, emptied the coffers of my bank accounts and 401 K, even if I gave my life in the line of duty as many missionaries have…if love was not the driving force…so what.

Those are harsh words, in a chapter about love, when you think about it.  To love the way Paul describes requires that we have an attitude of love, and Paul describes that attitude in I Corinthians 13.

Peace

January 26 through “A 9 hour tour home”

Click on the screen below.  This is pretty much how Deb and I feel about our trip home.  Remember we began our trek home on Monday morning.  Imagine Deb and I as Gilligan and the Skipper.

January 28th One more time…

It finally quit snowing, the sun even popped out for a bit, so Deb and I ventured out to the shopping center.  We took some pictures of the ice and snow.

January 28th again…

Snow is dumping on us on top of the ice.  We had to decide to whether or not to stay tonight because there is so much power out that people are calling in to the hotel to get rooms for the night.  After calling the Kentucky State Police, we decided to stay again tonight.  State police said roads are passable but to stay off unless it was an emergency.

I am going to think of this place as an office and work on the service for Sunday.  I’ll keep a few pictures up just for the fun of it.

I had so much ice on the car that the only door I could open was the driver side.  I kept opening it until way up in the night in hopes that it would open this morning…it did.  I went to Walgreens and got a can of de icer, and on the way I saw this guy riding a bicycle down the road.  He must have needed to go somewhere real bad.

January 28, 2009

Today is beginning much as yesterday left off.  Rain and ice.   The temperature is supposed to get colder sometime this morning and the rain is to turn to snow.  I like snow better than ice.  We’re going to try to get out of here as soon as the rush hour traffic is over.

At least the ice is pretty.

I am trying to get through this day with a peaceful attitude, but my patience is wearing sort of thin.  Its hard to sit by and wait.

PEACE !

January 27th Continues…

The TV says that Kentucky is in a state of emergency.  More ice tonight followed by 3 inches of snow in the morning.

What’s the chances of us getting out of here in the morning?

January 27, 2009 Continued…

We made it to Louisville but the ice was too bad on the interstate to go much over 35 mph.  We figured sooner or later we would wind up in a ditch or otherwise stuck in traffic due to somebody else in the ditch.  We are staying at a Best Western watching the rain turn to ice as soon as it hits the ground.

Some pictures from the morning:

January27, 2009

Well…

Its Tuesday morning and Deb and I are still in the unpredictable north country.  We set out to leave Van Wert yesterday morning and the car decided to start problems.  So…we spent the day in the Volkswagon dealership with a sick car.  We finally got out of there about 5:45 p.m. and decided to spend the night at Deb’s brothers house in Bloomington Indiana.  On the way here it began to snow and this morning we’ve got somewhere between 6 to 8 inches.  The roads have not been cleared yet so we’re stuck until later on in the morning.

I told Deb that if we have to be delayed in getting home, we might as well have some pretty scenes to look at.  I am looking forward to our drive in the snow through the hills of Southern Indiana.
