Pentecost!

Excitement !  Enthusiasm!  Anticipation!  Thrilling!  Hope!  Faith!  Joy!  Passion!  Amazing!  All of those words describe Pentecost.  They should also describe the life of each Christian from time to time.

Peace !

Over the years I have encouraged several people who wanted to go out on their own into a business venture.  Two of them really stand out to me because I feel I played a major role in their decisions to quit safe and secure long time employment to chase a dream.

Both of them did well in business and there was a marked change in their life attitudes as well.  Both felt good about themselves, and they both were much happier people, and both of them gained a confidence that was refreshing.  I never said anything but I always felt proud  of both of them for daring to do what most others are afraid to do.

I am reminded of these two people as I finish reading Mark Batterson’s book, In A Pit With A Lion On A Snowy Day.

If you haven’t already, you ought to pick this book up and read it.  Batterson encourages any and all to step out in faith, take some God sized risks, and allow God free reign in our life.

Have you ever noticed that the more you pray the more you find to pray about?  It seems that once we’re used to turning to God in prayer the more things we notice where God is the answer.  There just seems to be a correlation between how often we pray and how many things we are aware of that need praying about.

Pray for God to increase your prayer time.  If you are praying at each opportunity there should be some breathless moments.

I still can’t get stepping out in faith out of my mind.  I suppose that’s a good thing but its a little bit scary.  When God nags at us about something we ought to pay close attention to what ’s going on in our life, and look for where God is in that.  God just might have a plan…  Just a thought.

Jesus told his disciples that they would receive power when the Holy Spirit came upon them (Acts 1:8).  That power would drive them out into the open away from the security of keeping a low profile afraid of what might happen to them.  The Holy Spirit would give them the ability to be a force for Christ.

I am glad that nothing has changed since that time.
