The Prayer of St. Francis focuses on what is right and good, and it reflects the positions of Jesus and it reflects the writings of Paul who wrote the spirit of that message in Philippians 4:8:

“…whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things…and the God of Peace will be with you.”

When Paul wrote that he was telling his readers to focus on good and admirable things.  And in Galatians five Paul told us what those good and admirable things were:

“Love, joy peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.”

Paul wanted people to focus on what a life being lived by the Spirit was all about, he wanted people to understand the mind of God.  And likewise St. Francis…
