Sunny morning prayer…
O God, thank you for the sunshine this morning…those of us who are feeling a bit down at the dreariness of life needed to see and feel that. Even though it’s clouded back over now, at least we can be reminded of your promise to be with us. Above the clouds your light is shining bright as ever…we wait with eager expectation for the cloudiness to move away so that light will bring new life to our soul.
I am reminded of the one you chose named Saul of Tarsus, the one who you said would suffer much for your name (Acts 9:16). I remember the laundry list of his suffering in 2 Corinthians 11:16-33, I remember how that list is completed with his mention of facing daily the pressure of his concern for all the churches…and I try to refrain from lamenting my own frustrations.
Like the sunshine this morning allow us to feel the warmth of your love, and help us not to look past our mission in favor of dwelling on what attempts to drag us down. Turn our worry to anticipation, our fears to joy, and our anxiety to peace…
O God, you have called us to be a light in our world; give us new life this day and fill us with the light of your love, and give us new passions to reflect that love. Amen.
