Foggy Morning Prayer…
O God, I look outside this morning as if looking through a glass darkly (I Corinthians 13:12). The fog has blanketed our world and has blurred the edges of objects much as the harshness of our world has blurred the edges of our thinking…
O God, there are worries and frustrations that keep us awake at night, haunt us in the daytime and drive doubt into our minds…help us to understand what it means to overcome worry, doubt, and frustrations with the joy of clear thinking.
O God, there are so many voices that threaten to bombard us with negative thinking and attitudes, voices that try to turn our heads to the right or the left…help us keep our spiritual eyes on you, rise above all the threats, and continue to learn from you, while we continue to grow in you.
Clear our minds to see what perfection can look like and give us the desire to muddle through the fog to see as you see. Give us the desire to see past the distractions that are merely side roads that lead to nowhere, in favor of focusing more clearly on our mission to be Christ in the world.
O God, guide us by your mercy and grace. Amen.
