It’s been a busy week and I’m tired. My body is tired and my brain is tired. I’m taking tomorrow to enjoy kids and grandkids and get some much needed work done at the farm.
Memorial day is a day to remember those who have gone before us…pause to reflect, offer thanks and remember…
We can’t help but think of our military fathers and mothers when we look back because so many of us had family that served, fought or were killed in wars over the last century and into this one. My father was a causality of WWII, he survived the war but like many others, he lived with the mental wounds that kept his mind returning to 1943 – 44 Germany as long as he lived. Freedom has a heavy price.
But as we think of our family that we sometimes deem Heroes, also think about the Heroes of our faith that have gone before us, those who have kept the fire burning in our hearts and taught us to follow Jesus. I thank God when I think of these who have preserved a different kind of freedom. Like our military heroes, these deserve a place in our mind too.
