Hope that affects the outlook of our life is a Hope that is filtered through a knowledge of who Jesus is, at least it seems that way to me. Without Jesus Hope seems to always have a question mark after it.
There must be some anchor, some fixed point from which true hope is tethered, if not hope is illusive even deceptive leading us toward false hope that is often built on desire instead of faith. And hope devoid of faith usually ends up in futility, pointless and ineffective.
As I said yesterday, use this Advent season as a time to evaluate the Hopes that we have; measure them through the filter of who Jesus is, that is see how our hopes measure up alongside Jesus’ teaching…and then find ways to build on that hope, to allow our hope the opportunity to take us on further with joy, peace, and love.
