Tying up some loose ends in my mind about how to react to the world around us.
I am reminded of the Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 3 where he tells his readers they are letters from Christ, not written with ink but with the Spirit of God…not carved on tablets of stone but on human hearts.
It is the heart that ultimately reveals who we are. It is the overflow of the heart that follows us from place to place. Jesus said that if the heart was full of good, good would show itself, if the heart was full of bad, people would leave that trail behind them (Luke 6:45).
Sometimes issues flare up around us and causes our heart to stir. I liken our heart to this huge cauldron being stirred with this big wooden paddle. Bubbles and steam rises until it begins to boil over.
The overflow of that drips with the contents of our heart. What follows us around is either love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, gentleness, self-control…or not. Look back over the past week…what kind of trail did we leave?
