But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Quote of the Week
Book I. Section 4. Wise Thought and Action
1. Don’t trust every suggestion, but with healthy skepticism and patience ponder your affairs in the light of God’s will. Pity! We often believe evil of others and gossip about them. But why not speak good? Wise people document what they hear. They know human frailty, how easily words get twisted.
2. Live wisely! Avoid rash behavior. Live wisely! Refuse to rigidly defend your pride. Live wisely! Don’t repeat everything you hear. Ask counsel from a person of sound judgment. Ask instruction from one better than you. Avoid following your own proud ideas. Good living opens the door to rich experience. The more you exercise humility, the more you subject yourself to God. The more you exercise wisdom, the more you bring peace to all circumstances.
Thomas a’Kempis from his timeless classic, The Imitation of Christ. Edited and paraphrased by my dear friend, the late Don Demaray.
