I have been working on a funeral for Friday and came across something interesting. The individual who died was one who spent a lot of time doing things for other people. It seems like somebody was always calling him to come and fix something that was either broken or otherwise didn’t work, or maybe clean out their gutters, or repair their car, or see why their fridge wasn’t cold enough or their TV didn’t work…you get the picture.
Anyway I was thinking about all of that and the words of Jesus came to my mind. “Whatever you did for the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did it to me.” (Matthew 25:40)
What that means is that Jesus is seen in the people we help. But what that also means is the people we help see Jesus in us. I think that’s a neat thought but chocked full of responsibility.
Go be Jesus to somebody and while you’re at it pay attention in whom you see Jesus.
Just a thought…
