Life is difficult when things begin to happen that cast a shadow over “…and they lived happily ever after.”
Life is rarely, if at all that way even though we know in our heart of hearts that Jesus is in control. Life is usually a lot more influenced by something big enough to overshadow that satisfied feeling. In fact it seems that for each moment of victory, or each moment where it seems that all is well…something happens.
There are so many times people have felt so good, done good, been a good example, said the right thing at the right time, and we come away feeling good!…and when that happens I can almost guarantee that something ugly is coming around the corner…and the future once again is difficult to see in a triumphal light…
But even then we are charged to continue doing what we imagine to do when we reach, “Happily ever after.”
Good news for the poor, freedom for the prisoner, recovery of sight for the blind, release for the oppressed, the lame walk, the deaf hear, lepers are cleansed, and the dead are raised to life, the first are last and the last are first, and Jesus is lifted high above the noise of the day…
And I think, what might those things look like in the here and now…because that’s the sort of thing Jesus teaches about the kingdom of heaven.
Something to think about…
