Many things will attempt to steal our peace, things will appeal to the part of us that is nurtured by worry and fear – even anger. Without a firm trust and understanding of Jesus our minds are quickly lured away from peace and the supernatural ability of Jesus to bring light into darkness.
And that leads me to think…
If we put our trust in people or things and leave out God’s ability to alter the unthinkable there will be no real, lasting, peace…
Those who follow Jesus must not lose the faith in God to bring hope out of the ash heap of hopelessness.
When we fail to leave God room to work as God sees fit we fall into believing that all is lost and rolling downhill headed for hell.
And I think, where is the Gospel in that?
Rather, in the last days of his life as he was telling his disciples that he was going away, Jesus said in John 16:33:
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart I have overcome the world.”
That pretty much teaches me to put faith in Jesus and allow him the room to work in ways that I might not understand but to trust him to work anyway.
