“If the warmth of the heart cannot penetrate our outside layer then we need to peel back some layers.”
In our world there is so much anger, especially when it comes to society in general and politics in particular. Voices come from all directions spewing knee jerk reactions that inflame, excite and draw responses that counter the point and further infuriate. On and on it goes…
Many people, it seems – myself included – fall prey to the anger of others and lose sight of the beauty around us. The result – my opinion here – is that the heart grows cold, or at least is calloused to the point that the warmth of our heart cannot make it to the top layer of our skin. And if the warmth of the heart cannot penetrate our ruffed up façade we fail at the second greatest commandment of loving other people… (Matthew 22:37-40)
Be careful not to become angered from the anger of others. As Jesus followers we are called to demonstrate love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control. (Galatians 5:22-23) I have to remind myself of that on occasion. From what I read on social media, a lot of other people are the same way
Just some thoughts this morning.
Peace and joy
