These words came to mind this morning…
Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else, (Galatians 6:4)
I learned a long time ago that much of our effort goes unnoticed in the eyes of many. But I have also learned that this is not necessarily a bad thing because behind the scenes work is necessary in so many vocations.
In the work I have done over the years I’ve tried my best to do what I do to the best of my ability whether anyone else knew or not, and I know a lot of other people with the same attitude. The result is that we can know that we’ve done our best, as the Apostle Paul says, we’ve tested our thoughts and actions and have adjusted our lives under those guidelines instead of making comparisons with other people.
Perfection comes from the honesty of doing our best before God, not just doing enough to be better than someone else.
